Artist Sketchbook iPhone App Preview!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on February 2, 2010 by rapozaart

Hey everybody! Droppin in again after some crazy deadline action :O. Life has been very very hectic for me the past few weeks. I know I say something like this almost everytime I update… But this was especially hectic. Got 10 illustrations to finish! Gotta push harder than ever! Still keeping up with the studies though. Also, jumped on a new diet without any carbs from bread and generally limiting carbs to 125 grams a day. I have to say… I feel about 200% better now that I’m on this diet. Never did I realize that carbs just totally make me feel like crap. Feeling really awake, aware and excited again.

Other than that I got some good stuff comin(I hope its good :O)! Bobby Chiu asked me to do an iPhone app with him and soon it’ll be released for purchase on the iphone app store. I’ll be part of his Artist Sketchbook series! It was really to go back and collect personal works(a lot of which I finished specifically for the app) and create new illustrations exclusive to it. Below are a couple preview images! I’ll update again when it becomes available :D. Then you can help support this David in need.

So heres the cover and a couple pages! -

I’ll be posting regularly again soon! Finally getting through the rough patch!

Been a bit, busy again :O

Hey everybody! Trying to keep up with everything I got going on and am failing… Sometimes its best not to juggle everything at once so you don’t drop all the balls :(. Best to keep a strong focus. So yea, I’ve been doing the Crimson Daggers now for a good 3 months or so and have seen loads of improvement in the participants. The studies have totally helped my work along in so many ways and I find that finishing art is a hell of a lot easier than it used to be. Hopefully as time goes on this will grow and grow til we get a good couple hundred regulars on there posting work daily :D. Thats what I’d like to see anyways… People just getting waaay better every day and showing everybody else how its done. In the meantime though… I can wait, too much to finish all the time!

Currently I’m working on a few magazine pieces, an album cover and some personal works for an application I got going w/Bobby Chiu. Been having fun though and trying to make time to get away from art. Trying to get some time in on Mass Effect so I can unplug from my constant work and just sorta zone out. Don’t usually play games ever, in fact this is the first in a couple years, but its relaxing and I think I’ve needed that. Just have to watch out that I don’t get totally sucked in D:. Mass Effect is awesome :O!

Well, heres some art I’ve been doin :O. Just messin around for now so these are all works in progress :). Then some studies.

If you don’t already know, Bobby Chiu of Imaginism Studios hosts a weekly Live Streaming series called the Chiu Stream! He just finished up his interview with Comic Legend Mike Mignola creator of Hellboy :D(which you can rewatch on the stream)! Every week(or I think its still weekly) he hosts a contest with a subject from the artist hes interviewing and everybody has to draw their interpretation to get voted on… The winner of this gets a free sketch from whoever hes interviewing! Its a really great thing to be apart of and really fun. So if youre an artist you should give it a shot when he announces his next interview :).

So, this week my Frankenstein image was chosen as the winner by Mike Mignola! I’m super pumped to get my original sketchhh, gonna get a nice frame mmmm. So yea, its totally worth it to participate! Although I do think I’ll be bowing out of the whole thing for awhile do to a massive workload looming on the horizon D:.

But yea, thanks again to Bobby Chiu and everyone at Imaginism for this awesome opportunity! And again, if you can you gotta participate! Just follow his twitter and he’ll probably announce the next one soon.

I should have a lot of stuff to post up soon! Good stuff I hope D:.

I’ll also be hosting my live stream on Mondays from now on(unless Bobby’s Streams are monday, in which case I’ll change it because I wanna watch em hahah)!

Thanks everybody!

Ohhhhh GOD. Its that time of year :(. Up here in New Hampshire winter comes into my life packin tons of terrible snow. Usually lasts for like 5 months and I’m totally not looking forward to it! Hopefully I can go on vacation or something soon… Can’t handle another winter of straight work and cabin fever ahaha.

I talked to a bunch of dudes and am looking to get started on my new set of videos! Really looking forward to talking to some artists I know/people who want advice :D. Should be a lot of fun and maybe I can help some people out… Maybe not with all the beautifulness of painting, but definitely about industry freelance danger D:. At the moment I’m just finishing up my deadlines for the end of the month though. Should be up annd rollin afterwards though! Things are really looking up over here and I’m pretttyy happy about it! So look forward to some goodness :D!

Did up my Frankenstein entry for Bobby Chiu’s Mike Mignola interview! Every week for a few weeks hes been interviewing some pretty great artists and every week theres a new contest in which you win a free sketch! Really looking forward to this one though, big fan of Mike’s work.

check it out :D

Should be updating soon with new videos!

Metal- Grave Digger “we wanna rock you”

Wooo Bobby Chiu!

First of all, thanks to Kei and Bobby for all the kind words! Tonight on Bobby Chiu’s Ustream my sketch was chosen to be painted :D! I really appreciate Bobby choosing me and callin my website out from the highest mountains! It pays to be apart of things like this… and even though I’m drowning in deadlines it was worth it to take the time out and do something for the live show. The topic was ghost busters ghost and we were given 40 minutes to paint a quick concept. Not really enough time to make somethin that great but was fun all the same :D!

Hopefully the extra attention helps me along on my freelance journey! Every little bit counts for sure!

Heres a screen cap and the sketch I did :).

and of course… some metal :D
